Where it came from
Released as part of the Funko Pop! Television line in 2021, the Tattoo figure commemorates the iconic character portrayed by Hervé Villechaize in the classic 1977 television series Fantasy Island. The character of Tattoo, known for his signature white suit and his role as the assistant to Mr. Roarke, became a significant pop culture fixture during the late 1970s and early 1980s, representing a unique bridge between television fantasy and the era's lighthearted drama.
The design of this vinyl figure focuses on capturing the character's quintessential look, including his sharp white tuxedo and the expectant, welcoming demeanor he displayed as he announced the arrival of new guests. Funko's stylized aesthetic, characterized by a large head and simplified, expressive features, was chosen to evoke a sense of nostalgia for fans of the show. Upon its release, the figure was well-received by collectors interested in classic television history, serving as a distinct tribute to Villechaize's memorable performance.
