Where it came from
Tenya Iida, the studious class representative of Class 1-A, was immortalized as a Funko Pop! figure in 2017 as part of the initial wave of the My Hero Academia Pop! Animation line. The character originates from Kohei Horikoshi’s acclaimed manga series, which depicts a world where superpowered quirks are the norm. The figure was released to capture the surge in global popularity the series experienced following the launch of its anime adaptation by Studio Bones.
The design of the figure emphasizes Tenya's distinct hero costume, specifically his high-collared suit and prominent engine-like mufflers on his calves, which are central to his reciprocal burst quirk. Funko’s artistic team aimed to distill the rigid, disciplined personality of the character into their signature aesthetic, utilizing the square-faced, large-eyed stylization that defines the line. Upon its release, it became a staple for collectors focusing on anime-themed vinyl figures, valued for its faithful representation of a breakout character from the series.
