Where it came from
Released as part of the Funko Pop! Animation line, this figure represents Shota Aizawa, also known as Eraser Head, from the popular manga and anime series My Hero Academia. Created by Kohei Horikoshi, the character is a professional Pro Hero and a teacher at U.A. High School. The figure captures his signature appearance, featuring his practical, dark hero costume, combat goggles, and his binding cloth weapon, which he uses to incapacitate villains by erasing their quirks.
The design process for this Funko figure focuses on distilling Aizawa’s weary but determined aesthetic into the signature stylized aesthetic of the Pop! brand. By highlighting his disheveled hair and utility gear, the design team aimed to reflect his role as a grounded, pragmatic instructor amidst a school of aspiring super-powered students. Like many figures in the My Hero Academia series, it was released to meet high fan demand following the global rise in the franchise's popularity, serving as a staple piece for collectors of anime-themed vinyl figures.
