Where it came from
Released in 2020 as part of the Funko Pop! Star Wars collection, this figure captures a defining moment from the first season of the Disney+ series The Mandalorian. Known colloquially as 'Baby Yoda,' the character, officially designated as The Child, became an immediate cultural phenomenon upon the show's debut. Funko designed this iteration to immortalize the widely shared scene of the character sipping bone broth from a small cup, a visual choice that solidified the character's appeal through its juxtaposition of high-stakes sci-fi adventure and quiet, relatable domesticity.
The design follows Funko’s signature aesthetic, featuring the stylized, oversized head and simplified facial features characteristic of the Pop! line. The sculpting team focused on recreating the creature's expressive, large eyes and wide ears to mimic its on-screen appearance. Upon its release, the figure was met with significant enthusiasm, quickly becoming one of the most sought-after collectibles in the Star Wars line due to the immense popularity of the character and the iconic nature of the specific moment it commemorates.
