Where it came from
The Raven Bart Funko Pop, number 1032 in the Television series, was released in 2020 as part of a special collection celebrating the long-running 'Treehouse of Horror' Halloween specials from The Simpsons. The design draws directly from the 1990 segment 'The Raven,' where Bart takes the form of the titular bird in a retelling of Edgar Allan Poe’s classic poem. Funko’s design team aimed to capture the gothic, literary aesthetic of the episode, rendering Bart with stylized, feathered wings and a mischievous, slightly sinister expression that fits the show's dark humor.
Upon release, the figure was well-received by both Simpsons fans and collectors of the Pop! Television line. It stands out within the series for its departures from Bart's standard character model, leaning into the surrealist tone of the annual anthology episodes. The figure highlights the enduring cultural impact of 'The Simpsons' through its ability to integrate high-culture literary references into mass-market pop culture collectibles.
