Where it came from
Released as part of the Funko Pop! Marvel line, this figure commemorates the 2022 Marvel Studios Special Presentation Werewolf by Night. The character, Jack Russell, draws from the long-standing comic book history of the Marvel werewolf, which first appeared in the 1970s. This figure specifically captures the stylized aesthetic of the black-and-white television special, paying homage to the classic Universal horror films that inspired the project.
The figure was designed to translate the practical costume effects and cinematic mood of the special into Funko's signature oversized-head format. By utilizing a monochromatic color palette, the designers aimed to mirror the production's homage to mid-century cinema. The figure was well-received by fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and collectors of the horror-themed subset of Marvel figures, standing out as a distinct departure from the more vibrant, colorful characters typically found in the line.
