Where it came from
Released as part of the Funko Pop! Marvel line, this figure captures the pivotal moment from the 2017 film Thor: Ragnarok where Thor confronts the fire demon Surtur. The figure depicts Thor in his gladiatorial arena attire, featuring the distinct battle-worn makeup and his iconic helmet, while holding the severed head of Surtur as a trophy. This particular item, numbered 246, served as a key entry in the collection representing the film's vibrant, colorful aesthetic under the direction of Taika Waititi.
The design of this Pop! figure leans into the stylized, oversized-head aesthetic that defines the Funko brand, focusing on the specific visual cues of the Ragnarok suit. It was intended to appeal to fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe who wanted a tactile representation of the movie's humorous and high-stakes opening sequence. Upon its release, it was well-received by collectors who appreciated the detail put into the accessory, which was a departure from standard weapon-wielding Thor figures.
