Tobias Whale

Tobias Whale, designated as number 429 in the Pop! Heroes line, represents a significant addition to Funko's expanding catalog of DC Comics characters. Released in 2020, this figure depicts the primary antagonist from the television series Black Lightning, portrayed by Marvin 'Krondon' Jones III. The character, originally created for DC Comics by Tony Isabella and Trevor Von Eeden in the 1970s, was brought to life in the live-action adaptation with a sophisticated, menacing aesthetic that the vinyl figure aims to capture through his signature sharp suits and distinctive physical presence.

The design of this Pop! vinyl focuses on translating the character's television appearance into the stylized, large-headed aesthetic synonymous with the Funko brand. Funko’s design team emphasized the character’s hallmark albino features and impeccably tailored wardrobe to ensure immediate recognition for fans of the show. Upon its release, the figure was generally well-received by collectors of the Black Lightning series, serving as a rare opportunity to own a tangible piece of the show's iconography, particularly as merchandise for that specific DC series was relatively limited compared to larger cinematic franchises.
