Where it came from
Released as part of the Funko Pop! Movies line, this figure captures the iconic image of Toto sitting in Dorothy Gale's wicker basket from the 1939 cinematic masterpiece, The Wizard of Oz. Created to commemorate the film's enduring legacy in popular culture, the design aims to distill the essence of one of cinema’s most recognizable animal companions into the recognizable, large-headed aesthetic characteristic of the Funko brand.
The figure reflects the design language of contemporary pop-culture collectibles, which prioritize stylistic simplification to evoke nostalgia. By focusing on the basket imagery, the creators lean into the film's visual shorthand, targeting both long-term fans of the Technicolor classic and modern collectors of the Pop! series. Upon its release, it was well-received by fans of the franchise for its specific attention to a beloved supporting character, serving as a companion piece to the broader Wizard of Oz character set.
