Where it came from
Tossakan, the primary antagonist of the Ramakien, the Thai national epic derived from the Hindu Ramayana, was reimagined in the Pop! Asia series to celebrate Southeast Asian folklore. Released as part of Funko's initiative to expand their reach into international markets, this figure draws inspiration from traditional Khon masked dance, capturing the ten-faced demon king's ornate crown and signature green-tinged aesthetic.
The design of this vinyl figure synthesizes the complex iconography of Thai classical art with the simplified, stylized proportions characteristic of Funko's aesthetic. By distilling the intricate gold filigree and regal bearing of the classical Tossakan mask into a collectible format, the creators sought to honor cultural heritage while appealing to a global audience interested in diverse mythological representations.
