Where it came from
Tourist Dave was released by Funko as part of their Pop! Movies line, specifically commemorating the 1997 cult classic film 'National Lampoon's Vacation.' The figure captures the iconic look of the protagonist, Clark Griswold, during the family's ill-fated cross-country road trip to Walley World. It serves as a nostalgic nod to the character's relentless, albeit misguided, optimism in the face of escalating travel disasters.
The design team at Funko adopted their signature stylized aesthetic for this figure, emphasizing the character's recognizable tan safari-style vest, hat, and camera draped around his neck. The figure was crafted to evoke the specific visual identity of the 80s film era while maintaining the standardized proportions that define the Pop! line. Upon its release, it was well-received by fans of the Griswold family franchise, who viewed it as a playful collectible that encapsulates the humor of the quintessential American road trip.
