Where it came from
Tubbs, numbered 940 in the Pop! Television series, was released by Funko to celebrate the enduring legacy of the 1984 crime drama Miami Vice. The figure depicts Detective Ricardo Tubbs, famously portrayed by Philip Michael Thomas, capturing the show's iconic 1980s aesthetic through his signature pastel suit and sharp styling. This piece was designed to serve as a companion to the Detective Sonny Crockett figure, rounding out the show's central partnership for fans of the stylized police procedural.
The design team at Funko focused on translating the cinematic flair of the original series into their distinctive vinyl format, emphasizing the character's tailored professional look. As part of the wider Pop! Television line, the figure was intended to bridge the gap between contemporary collectibles and classic television history. Upon release, it was received primarily as a nostalgic homage, appealing to both long-time admirers of the series and modern collectors who value pop culture representation of eighties media.
