Where it came from
Winifred Sanderson, pop number 557, was released by Funko as part of their Disney line to celebrate the enduring legacy of the 1993 cult classic film Hocus Pocus. The figure depicts the film's lead antagonist, the eldest Sanderson sister, complete with her signature green ensemble, voluminous red hair, and the iconic spellbook held under her arm. This release catered to the surge in nostalgia for 90s cinema, capturing the character's theatrical appearance in the distinct, large-headed aesthetic characteristic of the Funko Pop format.
The design draws heavily from Bette Midler’s portrayal of Winifred, focusing on the character's exaggerated features and period-inspired witch costume. Upon release, the figure was met with significant enthusiasm from both Disney collectors and fans of the film, quickly becoming a centerpiece for Halloween-themed displays. It represents a broader effort by Funko to immortalize villainous characters from live-action family films, bridging the gap between classic cinematic iconography and modern toy culture.
