Where it came from
Released as an exclusive for the retail chain Hot Topic, this variant of the Wolverine Pop! figure features the character in his distinct X-Force black and grey tactical costume. The figure is part of the original Marvel Universe Series 1 line, which served as one of the earliest waves in the Funko Pop! Marvel collection, establishing the aesthetic template that would define the brand's expansive approach to comic book character design.
The figure retains the iconic stylized proportions of the Funko aesthetic—a large head with expressive, simple facial features and a compact body. By shifting the color palette from Wolverine's traditional yellow and blue to the muted tones associated with the clandestine X-Force team, Funko leaned into the darker, more militaristic visuals popular in modern Marvel storytelling. It remains a notable piece for collectors focusing on early Funko iterations and Marvel variant history.
