The Thing (Metallic, Blue Eyes)

Released as part of the inaugural wave of Marvel Pop! figures in 2011, this version of The Thing captures Ben Grimm, the foundational powerhouse of the Fantastic Four. At the time of its debut, Funko was just beginning to establish its signature stylized aesthetic, choosing to render the character with a distinct metallic finish and iconic blue eyes to differentiate this variant from the standard release. It emerged during a pivotal moment for the company as it transitioned from a niche bobblehead manufacturer into the global pop culture phenomenon it is today.

The figure reflects the design sensibilities of early Funko, characterized by a simpler, more compact silhouette compared to the highly detailed sculpts seen in later iterations of the Marvel line. By emphasizing the character's rocky exterior through a reflective metallic sheen, the designers sought to pay homage to the classic comic book iterations of the character while fitting him into the uniform, minimalist mold that defined the early Pop! Marvel series. It remains a notable piece for collectors interested in the evolution of the brand’s visual identity.
