Where it came from
Youppi! was introduced as the official mascot of the Montreal Expos in 1979, created by Bonnie Erickson, a former Muppet designer who famously helped develop Miss Piggy. The mascot was famously named after the French exclamation for joy, and his distinct orange, furry appearance made him an instant icon of the Major League Baseball landscape in Canada.
Following the relocation of the Expos in 2004, Youppi! transitioned to the National Hockey League as the official mascot for the Montreal Canadiens in 2005. The Funko Pop! figure captures this unique dual-sports legacy, rendering his signature shaggy silhouette and wide-eyed expression in the stylized aesthetic that characterizes the Pop! Hockey series.
