Where it came from
Yuri Katsuki, the protagonist of the 2016 sports anime Yuri on Ice!!!, was immortalized in Funko's Pop! Animation line as figure number 288. This piece was released during the height of the show's cultural phenomenon, capturing the character in his signature skating outfit. The design reflects the series' focus on emotional performance and competitive figure skating, aiming to translate the fluid motion of anime art into the stylized, compact aesthetic of the Pop! vinyl format.
The figure was produced as part of a wider collaboration between Funko and the creators of the series to meet high demand from international fans. Like many items in the Animation sub-line, it is characterized by the distinct oversized head and simplified features that define the Funko brand. Upon release, it was well-received by collectors who appreciated the faithful representation of Yuri's modest demeanor and iconic training look, serving as a staple piece for enthusiasts of modern sports anime collectibles.
