Zombie Captain America

Zombie Captain America was produced by Funko as part of their Pop! Marvel line, released to coincide with the 2021 Marvel Studios animated series What If...?. The figure is based on the 'Marvel Zombies' narrative arc, which imagines an alternate reality where superheroes have been infected by a ravenous virus. This design captures the character’s decayed appearance, complete with his damaged suit and tattered shield, reflecting the darker, horror-influenced tone of the episode in which he appears.

The design process for this figure focused on translating the gruesome aesthetic of the animated zombie variant into the signature stylized, large-headed Funko Pop! form factor. Designers emphasized texture through the sculpted tears in the uniform and the weathered paint application on the shield to convey a sense of post-apocalyptic grit. Upon its release, the figure was well-received by collectors of the Marvel line, particularly those interested in exploring the expansive multiverse concepts introduced during the fourth phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
