Where it came from
The Zouwu Funko Pop figure, numbered 28 in the Fantastic Beasts series, was released to coincide with the 2018 film Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald. The character is a mythical creature inspired by Chinese mythology, depicted in the film as a cat-like beast with a flowing, multi-colored mane. This specific variant features glow-in-the-dark elements, a design choice intended to capture the creature's magical presence as seen in the movie's darker scenes.
Funko's design team crafted this piece to emphasize the Zouwu's distinct, oversized silhouette and dramatic tail. As part of the broader Fantastic Beasts line, the figure serves as a collectible representation of the Wizarding World's expansion into global folklore. It was received by the collecting community as a standout piece of the wave due to its complex sculpt and the inclusion of phosphorescent paint to replicate the creature's bioluminescent-adjacent properties in the film.
