Where it came from
The LEGO Ninjago Accessory Set (853687-1) was released in 2017 as part of a series of blister-pack expansion kits designed to supplement the broader The LEGO Ninjago Movie product line. Created to coincide with the film's theatrical debut, this set was intended to provide builders with thematic minifigure components and equipment pieces, allowing fans to expand their existing city-based or combat-oriented dioramas with specific cinematic flair.
The design of the set focuses on the 'Garmadon Army' aesthetic, featuring three distinct minifigures—the Great White, General #1, and a Shark Army Thug. The visual direction aimed to replicate the quirky, militaristic sea-creature motifs seen on screen. Upon its release, it was received as a practical resource for fans looking to increase their army counts, praised for its accessibility and the inclusion of unique headgear and weaponry pieces that were otherwise only available in larger, more expensive movie-themed box sets.
