Where it came from
This version of Cole, released under the set number 891722-1 in 2017, was part of a promotional series of foil-bagged minifigures accompanying the LEGO Ninjago magazine. These promotional sets were designed to bolster the popularity of the Ninjago franchise during the lead-up to the release of The LEGO Ninjago Movie, offering fans an accessible way to collect specific versions of the core ninja characters.
The figure features the design aesthetic consistent with the movie-inspired wave of Ninjago products, characterized by updated torso printing and specialized accessories. The creative team behind the Ninjago line aimed to provide a distinct, high-quality character model that maintained the iconic identity of the Earth Ninja while aligning with the stylized, cinematic look introduced for the 2017 theatrical expansion.
