Where it came from
Aira's Creative Workshop, released in 2015 as set 41071-1, was a key entry in the inaugural wave of the LEGO Elves theme. Designed to capture the whimsical aesthetic of the Elves' magical world, the set centers on the character Aira Windwhisper, an apprentice wind elf. The design team focused on a vibrant color palette, moving away from traditional primary colors to incorporate teals, trans-clear accents, and intricate floral elements, which marked a distinct departure from contemporary LEGO themes of that era.
The set was conceived as an accessible entry point to the Elves narrative, featuring a desk, a map, and a mechanical bird build. Upon release, it was well-received by fans of fantasy-themed building sets, particularly for its unique parts and the detailed printing on the Aira mini-doll figure. It provided a specific building experience that emphasized the creative and magical identity of the franchise's protagonist, establishing the visual identity that would define the rest of the Elves line during its multi-year run.
