Where it came from
Released in 2015 as part of the LEGO Elves theme, Aira's Pegasus Sleigh (41077) was designed to introduce a fantasy-driven narrative featuring a group of friends navigating the magical realm of Elvendale. The set reflects a departure from the more traditional city or space-based themes, prioritizing intricate, pastel-hued aesthetics and specialized character figures that were distinct from the standard minifigure design of the time. The narrative context centered on Aira Windwhistler, the Wind Elf, seeking out secret maps to aid her companions, and the design intentionally focused on celestial and mythical motifs, including translucent pieces to mimic stardust and cloud elements.
The creative direction for the Elves line was aimed at a demographic seeking narrative-heavy, imaginative play, balancing architectural builds like the Pegasus Sleigh with character-focused storytelling. Designers utilized a specialized color palette—incorporating vibrant teals, purples, and golds—to distinguish the theme from others in the company's catalog. Upon its debut, the set was noted for its departure from standard construction norms, receiving praise for its unique aesthetic and the inclusion of detailed Pegasus figures, which became defining elements of the Elvendale collection's visual identity.
