Aira & the Song of the Wind Dragon

Released in 2018 as part of the LEGO Elves theme, Aira & the Song of the Wind Dragon served as a centerpiece for the final wave of the series. The set was designed to capture the mystical, fantasy-driven aesthetic of the Elvendale storyline, featuring a large, articulated wind dragon with translucent wing elements and a small airship build. It arrived during a period when LEGO was experimenting with more intricate character-driven narratives and fantasy creatures, moving away from standard city-based play sets to favor imaginative, lore-heavy themes.

The design process for the Elves line emphasized vibrant color palettes—specifically cool blues and purples for this particular model—and highly poseable creature builds that utilized specialized molded parts. The set was received by the community as a highlight of the Elves theme due to the striking dragon design, which moved beyond the functional constraints of earlier LEGO creature builds. It remains a notable example of the line’s visual identity before the theme was eventually retired in favor of other intellectual properties.
