Where it came from
Released in 1993, the Alien Encounter set 1195-1 was part of a promotional campaign for the Extra-Terrestrial Alien Encounter attraction at Walt Disney World. It was designed to capture the intrigue of space exploration and the sci-fi aesthetic prevalent in early 1990s media, serving as a tie-in product meant to familiarize guests with the thematic elements of the Tomorrowland experience.
The design of the set reflects the utilitarian and slightly ominous tone of the attraction, utilizing a modular construction typical of that era's LEGO aesthetic. It was received primarily as a niche collectible for fans of the Disney theme parks, representing a cross-branded effort to bridge the gap between creative building toys and immersive cinematic entertainment.
