Where it came from
Released in 2022 as part of the LEGO Technic line, the App-Controlled Transformation Vehicle was engineered to push the boundaries of remote-controlled play within the theme. The set emerged from a design focus on dual-purpose mechanics, requiring a complex chassis capable of flipping over to reveal a distinct second vehicle body once it hits a wall or obstacle. This design utilizes a sophisticated gear system and a specialized central pivot point that allows the two cockpit modules to operate independently while sharing a single motor-driven drivetrain.
The model was designed to integrate seamlessly with the LEGO Control+ app, which handles the complex driving and flipping logic through a smartphone interface. It serves as a modern iteration of classic 'stunt' RC vehicles, updated with the modularity and mechanical realism characteristic of Technic. Upon its release, it was noted for its innovative structural engineering, specifically the way the designers managed to distribute the weight of the battery hub to ensure the vehicle remains balanced regardless of which side is currently facing upward.
