Where it came from
Released in 1982 as part of the Legoland Town series, the 6655 Auto & Tire Repair set represents the classic era of small-scale service station modules. It was designed to provide a compact, functional addition to a growing cityscape, focusing on the essential utility of vehicle maintenance. The set features a straightforward design aesthetic characterized by the primary color palette and simple brick geometry that defined the early 1980s Lego design language.
The set includes a single technician minifigure and a small garage structure equipped with tools, reflecting the company’s intent to foster realistic play scenarios for children. While it was not a centerpiece or a large-scale structural set, it was received well as an affordable, accessible building kit that served as a functional filler for urban layouts. Its legacy persists among adult collectors as a nostalgic representation of the period's minimalist approach to set design.
