Where it came from
The Backyard Clinic, set number 10606-1, was released in 2014 as part of the Lego Duplo Ville subtheme. Designed for children aged two to five, the set was developed to introduce early learning concepts through roleplay, focusing on nurturing behaviors and familiar community services like medical care. Its bright color palette and simplified, rounded components reflect the design philosophy of the Duplo line, which prioritizes tactile safety and ease of assembly for younger hands.
The set includes a doctor and a child figure along with various medical-themed accessories, such as a stethoscope, a case, and printed bricks illustrating health concepts. Upon its release, it was well-received by parents and educators as a straightforward tool for alleviating anxiety surrounding doctor visits. It remains a characteristic example of Lego's effort to blend traditional building play with social-emotional development.
