Where it came from
The Blizzard Samurai (set 891952-1) was released as part of the LEGO Ninjago theme in 2019, specifically tied to the 'Secrets of the Forbidden Spinjitzu' story arc. This polybag set was distributed as a promotional item, designed to introduce the primary antagonists of the season, the Blizzard Army. These characters were depicted as ancient warriors cursed by the Forbidden Spinjitzu, appearing in the show as icy, frost-covered soldiers serving the Ice Emperor.
The design of the figure reflects the aesthetic of the Blizzard Army, featuring specialized ice-themed armor pieces and a translucent-effect blade. As a small-scale promotional set, the design focused on character authenticity for fans of the show rather than complex build features. It was generally well-received by collectors as an accessible way to acquire a core troop-builder figure from the winter-themed wave of the Ninjago series.
