Where it came from
The Garmadon figure from set 111901-2 is part of the long-running Lego Ninjago theme, which debuted in 2011. Designed by the Lego Group's internal creative teams, the theme was conceived as a fusion of martial arts narratives and fantasy elements to appeal to a younger demographic. The character of Lord Garmadon, depicted here as the primary antagonist, was developed as a complex figure caught between his dark heritage and his family ties, becoming a staple of the line's extensive character roster.
This specific iteration of the Garmadon character reflects the stylistic evolution of the Ninjago series, which consistently updates its minifigure designs to match the aesthetic shifts of the accompanying television series and feature films. Collectors often prize these versions for the intricate printing on the torso and head pieces, which capture Garmadon’s iconic four-armed appearance and stern facial expressions. The design is intended to remain durable for play while maintaining the high aesthetic standards expected of the Lego brand.
