Where it came from
The LEGO Friends 'Bunny Playground' (set 562202-1) was released as part of a promotional series associated with the popular LEGO Friends theme. It was designed to capture the cozy, animal-centric aesthetic that defined the Friends product line, specifically focusing on the theme of pet care and nurturing. The set was created to provide a bite-sized play experience, allowing fans to expand their LEGO Heartlake City dioramas with accessible, character-driven animal accessories.
The design follows the bright, pastel color palette characteristic of the early Friends sets, prioritizing playability and visual appeal for a younger demographic. It was intended to be a low-barrier entry point into the LEGO building system, utilizing a simplified construction method common in smaller polybag or promotional sets. Upon its release, it was well-received by collectors of the Friends line for its exclusive inclusion of the rabbit figure and themed accessories, which complemented the larger, more complex building sets of the period.
