Where it came from
The LEGO Car and Caravan set, numbered 379-2, was introduced in 1972 as part of a specialized range of town-themed vehicles. During this era, LEGO design was shifting toward more cohesive, functional models that allowed children to engage in role-play scenarios involving family life and leisure activities, moving away from the purely abstract construction of earlier years.
The set featured a simple, modular design aesthetic characterized by the vibrant primary colors common to early 1970s LEGO products. While the designers remain anonymous in keeping with the corporate anonymity of the era, the set is celebrated for its utilitarian charm and its contribution to the evolution of the LEGO town system, serving as a foundational blueprint for later, more detailed recreational vehicle sets.
