Where it came from
Released in 2017 as part of the LEGO Creator Expert line, the Carousel (10257-1) was designed to capture the nostalgic charm of classic fairground attractions. It served as a sophisticated follow-up to the 2009 Grand Carousel, utilizing updated building techniques and a more vibrant color palette to provide a complex, display-worthy model for adult collectors and enthusiasts of fair-themed sets.
The set was designed by LEGO designer Steen Sig Andersen, who focused on integrating mechanical functionality with intricate aesthetic details. The model features a manual crank-operated rotation system and a swinging motion for the animal figures, reflecting a design philosophy that prioritizes both interactive playability and structural elegance. Upon release, it was well-received by the community for its detailed build process and its ability to complement other modular fairground buildings.
