Where it came from
The Cities of Wonders series was developed to celebrate the architectural heritage and cultural evolution of major urban transit hubs across East Asia. The Taichung Railway Station set, identified as COWT-2, highlights the transition from the iconic 1917 Renaissance-style station building to the modern elevated tracks that currently serve the city. This particular item was curated for collectors interested in the intersection of colonial-era design and contemporary urban renewal in Taiwan.
The design of this piece emphasizes the neoclassical features of the original station, specifically its distinct red-brick facade and central clock tower. Created by local designers aiming for an authentic architectural miniature, the set was received as a respectful tribute to Taichung’s history. It represents a broader effort to preserve the memory of the site, which remains a central landmark even after the operational functions were moved to the new station structure.
