Coast Guard Patrol Boat & Tower

The Coast Guard Patrol Boat & Tower set, released under the Lego City theme in 2008, was part of a broader push to expand the series' maritime and emergency response offerings. Designed to offer a play-centric representation of maritime rescue, the set features a functional boat equipped with a flotation hull, allowing it to remain buoyant in water—a hallmark of the era's specialized vessel designs. Its release reflected the theme's commitment to portraying varied professional roles within a civilian setting.

The design team focused on incorporating essential rescue equipment, such as a buoy, a rescue stretcher, and a small command tower, to facilitate narrative-based play. By prioritizing modularity and active features like the hull's flotation, the set provided a balance between complex construction and tactile interaction. Upon release, it was well-received by the community for integrating water-based play with traditional building techniques, cementing its place as a staple of the 2008 Coast Guard subtheme.
