Where it came from
The Community Transport Set, cataloged as set 9132-1, was released in the late 1970s as part of an educational line designed to broaden the scope of existing building systems. During this era, manufacturers were increasingly focused on creating modular environments that encouraged social play, moving beyond simple vehicle construction to incorporate public utility and community infrastructure into the creative process.
The design of this set emphasizes functional simplicity, utilizing the standard building elements of its time to depict a variety of transport scenarios. It was developed to serve as a versatile pedagogical tool for children, allowing them to simulate urban planning and public services. While the set remained a niche offering compared to the brand's primary themes, it is remembered by collectors for its straightforward aesthetic and its role in expanding the utility of the company's modular brick system.
