Construction Site

The LEGO DUPLO Construction Site, set number 10990, was introduced as part of the long-running DUPLO construction-themed sub-line. Designed specifically for toddlers and preschoolers, this set serves as an introduction to tactile play and spatial reasoning, focusing on the mechanical processes of building. It draws from the archetypal imagery of construction sites found in urban development, featuring a crane, a dump truck, and a cement mixer to encourage role-playing scenarios that mimic adult work environments.

The design philosophy behind this set emphasizes safety and durability, utilizing the larger-than-standard DUPLO brick format to accommodate small hands and prevent choking hazards. The color palette remains vibrant and primary-focused to capture young children's attention, while the inclusion of poseable figures encourages narrative play. Upon its release, it was well-received by parents and educators as a foundational educational tool for developing fine motor skills and encouraging collaborative engagement with basic engineering concepts.
