Where it came from
The Cyber Saucer was released in 1997 as part of the short-lived UFO theme, which marked a distinct departure from the space-faring sets that preceded it. The theme was conceived to capitalize on the 1990s cultural obsession with extraterrestrial encounters, shifting the focus from traditional astronauts to a narrative centered on alien-human conflict and high-tech scout vessels.
Designed during a period of experimentation for the manufacturer, the Cyber Saucer utilized unconventional structural elements to mimic a classic disc-shaped UFO. The set's aesthetic prioritizes a sleek, futuristic profile with trans-neon green accents, reflecting the period's stylistic transition toward more aggressive, character-driven designs that prioritized display value and playability over the modular construction methods of the 1980s.
