Where it came from
Released in 1998 as part of the Lego Technic CyberMaster subtheme, this set was an early venture into the intersection of traditional building bricks and programmable robotics. It was designed to function as an educational entry point into logic and motor control, featuring a central processing unit that connected to two motors and sensors, allowing users to command their creations through a tethered interface on a computer.
The CyberMaster represented a bold attempt to modernize the Technic line for the digital age, characterized by its distinctive dark grey, yellow, and black color scheme and robust chassis components. While it provided an innovative bridge toward the later Mindstorms series, the set was ultimately limited by its reliance on a specific software environment and the physical tether required for operation, leading to a relatively short production run that remains a point of interest for collectors of technical historical hardware.
