Where it came from
Released in 2002, set 3913-1 is a small promotional build featuring Darth Vader, produced during the height of the Star Wars prequel era. This set was part of a broader marketing effort by the LEGO Group to introduce accessible, character-focused builds that utilized specialized printed elements to capture the iconic aesthetic of the Sith Lord within a minimalist scale.
The design prioritizes brevity and utility, reflecting a period when LEGO was expanding its character-driven offerings outside of traditional playsets. While the set is modest in piece count, it represents a significant moment in the history of licensed Star Wars merchandise, focusing on the visual recognition of the mask and armor design that defined the character’s legacy in cinema.
