Where it came from
Released in 2002, the Darth Vader 3913-2 set was part of a promotional campaign issued by Shell gas stations. The set represents a modest, entry-level build characteristic of the early 2000s, designed to capture the excitement surrounding the Star Wars prequel era while offering a portable, low-cost collectible for fans of the franchise.
The figure design follows the simplified aesthetic of the LEGO Star Wars theme from that period, focusing on an iconic character portrayal that was accessible to a younger audience. As a promotional item, it was not sold through traditional retail channels like larger sets, which has made it a nostalgic curiosity for collectors documenting the history of LEGO branding partnerships.
