Where it came from
Released in 2015 as part of the inaugural wave of LEGO Star Wars Constraction figures, this Darth Vader set (75111) was designed to bridge the gap between traditional brick-building and poseable action figure play. Drawing inspiration from the character's appearance in the original Star Wars trilogy, the design utilizes the Technic-based ball-and-socket system to allow for a wide range of articulation, capturing the imposing silhouette of the Sith Lord while maintaining a stylized, armored aesthetic.
The figure was well-received by collectors who appreciated the integration of specialized molded pieces with standard building elements, creating a detailed representation of Vader's iconic life-support armor and cape. It stands as a unique experimental era for the Star Wars theme, reflecting an attempt to reach fans of both construction sets and articulated collectibles through a more kinetic play experience.
