Where it came from
The LEGO Jurassic World Triceratops Research set, released in 2025, represents a focused expansion into paleontological display pieces within the brand's broader dinosaur-themed offerings. Designed to appeal to both younger builders and adult collectors, this set captures a pivotal moment of scientific discovery by focusing on the detailed assembly of a prehistoric skull rather than a full-scale creature, emphasizing the educational aspect of fossil excavation and display.
The aesthetic design leans into a clean, museum-style presentation, utilizing a modular build technique that allows the skull to be mounted on a specialized stand. The design team aimed to balance the structural integrity required for a display piece with the familiar building techniques that define the LEGO experience. Upon release, it was well-received by fans for its inclusion of an informational display plaque and its suitability as a standalone shelf piece.
