Where it came from
Released in 2022 as part of the Lego Creator 3-in-1 line, the Dolphin and Turtle set (31128) was designed to provide an accessible and versatile building experience for younger fans. The theme is centered on the concept of 'rebuilding,' encouraging users to dismantle the primary model to construct alternative figures, in this case allowing builders to transition between a mother dolphin and calf, a seahorse and sea snail, or a fish and a crab.
The set reflects the aesthetic priorities of the Creator series, which balances simplified geometry with characterful expression through the use of articulated joints and color-blocking. It was received favorably by the community as a quintessential budget-friendly entry, noted for its clever use of standard elements to capture organic shapes without requiring specialized molded parts.
