Where it came from
The LEGO Friends Dolphin Cruiser, set number 41015-1, was released in 2013 as part of the initial expansion of the Friends theme, which LEGO launched in 2012 to offer a more lifestyle-focused building experience. The set was designed to capture the leisure-oriented aesthetic of the Heartlake City sub-theme, featuring a large, multi-level vessel intended to facilitate role-play centered on summer vacations and marine exploration.
The design emphasizes a bright, pastel-heavy color palette, characteristic of the early Friends sets, and includes functional elements like a slide, a kitchen, and a sun deck. While the theme was initially met with some debate regarding its departure from traditional minifigure aesthetics in favor of the specialized 'mini-doll' figures, the Dolphin Cruiser was widely recognized for its robust construction and high play value, becoming a staple of the line's early success.
