Where it came from
Eiffel's Apartment, set 40579-1, was released by the LEGO Group in 2022 as a promotional gift-with-purchase to accompany the larger LEGO Eiffel Tower set. It depicts the private office and living space Gustave Eiffel maintained at the very top of the tower, providing an intimate glimpse into the workspace of the architect behind the iconic Parisian landmark. The design aims to capture the scientific and domestic blend of the space, featuring a desk, a lamp, and a small chair that reflect the 19th-century aesthetic of the hidden room.
The set was designed to complement the structural grandeur of the flagship model by offering a narrative counterpart that emphasizes the human element of the tower's history. By focusing on the small, secluded apartment, the designers sought to highlight a lesser-known aspect of the structure's legacy, which served as a private retreat where Eiffel hosted esteemed guests like Thomas Edison. Reception has been generally positive among collectors, who appreciate the set for its unique historical subject matter and the added context it provides to the broader architectural collection.
