Where it came from
The Fangpyre Truck Ambush, released in 2012 as part of the Lego Ninjago: Rise of the Snakes theme, captures the mid-series conflict between the ninja and the serpentine tribes. It represents the Fangpyre tribe's attempt to use scavenged mechanical power to challenge the ninja, reflecting the line's transition toward more complex, faction-specific vehicle designs that defined the second year of the Ninjago narrative.
Designed to highlight the unique 'snakelike' aesthetics of the Fangpyre, the set features a heavy-duty truck with a functioning biting mechanism and a hidden trailer attachment. The design team focused on incorporating the signature red and white color scheme of the tribe while ensuring playability through a suspended crane and the inclusion of key characters Zane and Jay alongside the serpentine adversaries. It was well-received by fans for its kinetic features and the inclusion of the golden Fangpyre staff, an essential component of the season's hunt for the four Fangblades.
