Where it came from
Released in 2012 as part of the Lego Ninjago theme, Jay's Storm Fighter was designed to anchor the Rise of the Snakes storyline. The set captures the transition of the ninja's vehicles into more aggressive, mechanical forms, reflecting the narrative shift as the characters faced the Serpentine army. It was intended to showcase the fusion of traditional ninja themes with futuristic aviation technology.
The set was designed to feature a unique transformation mechanism, allowing the fighter jet to shift its wings into an 'attack mode' configuration. This design choice was well-received by fans of the series, as it added a dynamic play feature to a sleek, color-coordinated craft that utilized Jay's signature blue and silver palette. It remains a representative example of the mid-sized vehicle sets that helped define the early years of the Ninjago franchise.
