Where it came from
Released in 2016 as part of the LEGO City Great Vehicles subtheme, the Ferry set was designed to capture the everyday utility of maritime urban infrastructure. The set reflects a broader design philosophy within the City line that emphasizes modular play, focusing on common public services that allow children to integrate larger-scale vessels into their existing brick-built harbors.
The model features a functional ramp mechanism and a dedicated space for transporting a delivery truck, showcasing a technical simplicity intended for younger builders. It was well-received upon launch for its practical play features and its inclusion of diverse minifigures, serving as an accessible entry point for those looking to expand the waterfront area of their LEGO city layouts.
