Where it came from
Released in 2009 as part of the LEGO Modular Buildings series, the Fire Brigade was designed to capture the aesthetic of a classic early 20th-century municipal building. It was developed to serve as a companion piece to earlier modular sets like the Green Grocer and Cafe Corner, focusing on architectural detailing such as a functioning bay door, a removable roof, and an intricate fire pole.
The set was designed by LEGO designer Jamie Berard, who aimed to integrate a distinct color palette of dark red and sand green to evoke a nostalgic, timeless urban feel. Upon its release, it was well-received by the adult building community for its complexity and the inclusion of a 1930s-style fire truck, which helped cement the Modular Buildings collection as a premier line for sophisticated builders.
